Source(google.com.pk)Classes at AWARD STUDIO are taught personally by Amy Ward. She has worked internationally for over 19 years as a top make-up artist and photographer for all aspects of the media. (See Bio/Credits of Director.)
CLASS SIZEMany schools pack 30-40 students into a class with only one instructor. At AWARD STUDIO we hold small master classes with no more than 8 students. This is the only way to insure maximum individual attention and high quality results.
EXPERIENCE OF INSTRUCTOR
It is very important for you to see the published work of your instructor and get a complete list of the clients they have worked for. Unfortunately, it is not unusual for some make-up schools to rely on the name of their founder to attract students. The founder does not teach the classes and often is not involved in the school at all. You sometimes get a student who recently graduated and has little or no actual job experience, who has been hired to teach. It's shocking isn't it?
TRAINING TIME ACTUALLY SPENT APPLYING MAKE-UP
At most schools the students spend the majority of their time taking turns working on each other. That means they are paying high fees per hour and yet half of the time they are not actually practicing make-up application, but just sitting around while other students work on them. At AWARD STUDIO we believe this is a waste of your time and money. Therefore, we supply models and actors for our students to work on. At AWARD STUDIO you spend ALL of your time actually applying make-up, not just sitting around.
FINDING WORK
Most schools offer little or no guidance in finding employment once you have completed their program. At the other extreme, one school requires that you pay for 45 hours of classes to get this information! At AWARD STUDIO all this information is included in our course, and we dont drag it out or charge you extra.
TRAIN WITH A SPECIALIST
Beware of schools that claim to teach every kind of make-up there is. The professional make-up industry does not want make-up artists who know a little about everything but not much about anything. Clients hire artists who are specialists in a particular field. Decide what area you want to specialize in and train with the most experienced artist in that special domain.
We take you to a variety of locations with different fashion models each day. Working on location is a completely different experience than working in a studio. It is important to know what is expected of you in both situations, so you are perceived as an experienced professional on work assignments.
Fashion editorial work offers make-up artists a much wider range of creative expression than television, film and commercial print work, where very specific rules apply regarding film and lighting. This two day fashion location shoot is essential to prepare you for fashion editorial and catalog assignments. Not only do you get first hand experience of what it's like to work on a fashion location shoot, but you build a fashion portfolio as well.
All the photographs on this page are our student's make-up work and Amy Ward's photography taken during the two day fashion location shoot. You can see the quality and diversity of the photographs that go into your portfolio and how we go to great lengths to create the impression that you are experienced and have worked on actual bookings. When you compare a portfolio like this to other schools where you leave with just a few studio head shots, you can plainly see that there is no comparison. We give you so much more for a fraction of the price that other schools charge. (scroll down for more info...)
